I am extremely excited to write this article for everyone today! One of my all time favorite movies is a movie called Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Before Hedwig was a movie, it was a Broadway play created by John Cameron Mitchell. I have never gotten the chance to see the actual play but the movie changed my life.
The story is a little crazy and would seem a bit odd to most people if you don’t allow yourself to get into it completely. It is about a Transsexual named Hedwig who moves from Berlin to America but has to undergo a sex change operation to pass as a woman. Suffice it to say the surgery doesn’t go very well hence “the angry inch”.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a very moving, heartfelt story but can be seen as a bit controversial to those who are a bit more conservative. However, I would urge you to give it a try as you might end up enjoying it as much as I did. All of you out there are probably wondering why I am writing about such a thing on ThinkTaiwan.
Well, an amazing thing is happening in Taipei. Hedwig and the Angry inch (搖滾芭比 音樂劇) has been completely translated into Chinese and will be performed live on stage in Taipei this month! It will be showing at Huashan 1914 Creative Park from now until April 14th. Each night there will be a showing at 8pm! Tickets are only NT899.

The performance in Taipei has been directed and produced by Brooke Hall from Ripple Productions. Brook has lived in Taipei for the past 12 years working in the theatre business. I am very proud of Brook and the work he is doing for the Taiwanese community. I urge you to check out this performance before its too late!
