ThinkTaiwan.com was created by Mike Price in July 2010 following my first journey to Taiwan—a place I soon began calling “The Island of Bobee.”
The site originally began as a small blog where I wrote about anything and everything connected to Taiwan, including Taiwanese music, movies, food, culture, and travel. At the time, my goal was to showcase a country that too many people either overlooked or knew very little about.
Over the years, both the site and my relationship with Taiwan have evolved. Today, ThinkTaiwan is a personal visual record of the country that continues to draw me back. Through my photographs, videos, and occasional thoughts, I share the streets, temples, neighborhoods, landscapes, and everyday moments that have shaped the Taiwan I know.
ThinkTaiwan is not intended to be a comprehensive travel guide or a large tourism publication. It is simply Taiwan as I see it—captured through repeated visits and shared from my own perspective.
Why “The Island of Bobee”?
I created the name “The Island of Bobee” as my own nickname for Taiwan, inspired by its historic nickname, Formosa. Bobee is a Taiwanese expression associated with blessings and protection from the gods. To me, Taiwan truly feels like an island blessed by the gods.
Taiwan has changed considerably since my first visit, and so have I. ThinkTaiwan gives me a place to preserve that evolving relationship while sharing a country that has become deeply meaningful to me.
